The little dragon Kokosnuss and his friends Matilda and Oskar live together on Dragon Island. All three are slightly different from the rest of the island's population: Coconut cannot fly, Oskar's diet is exclusively vegetarian and Matilda is a porcupine on an island full of dragons. When one day the valuable fiery grass is stolen from their village, the three friends, who are not taken too seriously by the other dragons, try to bring it back. In their search for the fire grass, they are constantly confronted with challenges and experience many adventures, and they also make new friends. In the end, contrary to the expectations of the inhabitants of their home island, they manage to find the fiery grass and bring it back to its right place.
