This demands the parts of God's armor , both those sold and those of the new owner, as ransom.
So Jackie locates the buyer of his armor - the local Count Bannon - and borrows them from him, with the promise to bring them back to him along with the other parts in the sect's possession. He agrees, but with the condition that Jackie takes his daughter May on the dangerous journey.
Together, the trio then set off on an adventurous journey through Europe . In Yugoslavia , the group of adventurers will finally find what they are looking for. At the headquarters of the drug dealing sect, which is hidden in a winding cave system within a mountain, Jackie and Alan can free Lorelei and eliminate the gang of criminals.
Locations
The film was shot in Graz , Vienna , Morocco , Slovenia , Motovun and Zagreb ( Croatia ), in Paris , the Philippines and Spain .
criticism
“Kung-fu film spiced with slapstick and honest comedy, not without speed and acrobatic ability. The fact that the film is set in Yugoslavia alone is remarkable. "
Awards
Hong Kong Movie Awards 1988: Nomination in the category "Best Action Choreography"
background
- Chan planned the film with screenwriter Edward Tang as a tribute to Steven Spielberg's Raiders of the Lost Ark .
- Jackie Chan broke some chest ribs falling from a balcony while filming. In addition, in what was actually a simple stunt, he fell from a tree onto a rock when a branch broke off, which almost cost him his life. He suffered a severe head injury, which has since been sealed with a plastic stopper. He has also been hard of hearing in one ear since then. The skull injury resulted in his hair growing longer to cover up. In the film he can therefore be seen with different hair lengths.
- The highlights of the film are the opening sequence with the escape from the cannibals, the chase in a Yugoslav city ( Zagreb , Croatia ) between Jackie's wonder car ( Mitsubishi Colt C10 "Spider") and the sect's jeeps ( Mitsubishi Pajero LO40 TD) Fight chans against four African American leather amazons and jump on a hot air balloon.
- Although Jackie sells the armor in a Paris auction house, you can see the Graz town hall instead of the auction house .
- Alan Tam is a famous singer in Asia. A video of one of his concert appearances is shown during the attack (which the Austrian parliament shows from outside) on Laura's fashion show. He sings the song " Midnight Rider " and later in the film a song with Jackie Chan, which runs in the background of the filmic representation of the travel route. The song can be heard in English on European video and DVD evaluations and in Cantonese in Asia.
- In the excerpt, which refers to the musical past of Jackie, Alan and Lorelei, their band is referred to as " The Losers ". This is a tribute to singer Alan Tam, whose former band was called " The Wynners ".
- John Ladalski, who plays a leading cult member in the film, is known as a henchman and thug guy from many Asian kung-fu films from the 1970s and 1980s.
- With most of the supporting cast, Jackie Chan shot other Eastern ones . Lola Forner was involved in Powerman , Bozidar Smiljanic and Rosamund Kwan can be seen in Project B.
Sequels
In 1990, the sequel Mission Adler - The Strong Arm of the Gods was created , in which Jackie Chan also played the lead role.
In 2012, Jackie Chan made the third film in the action series, Armor of God - Chinese Zodiac .
