Dettingen am Albuch is a district of Gerstetten in the Württemberg district of Heidenheim . The place is at the eastern end of the Gerstetter district near Herbrechtingen .

history

Dettingen has a very old settlement, which is proven by the discovery of an Alemannic settlement of the oldest stratum with several row graves on the eastern edge of the village and in the center. Interesting finds were made available by the mayor to the State Museum and Museum Heidenheim.

Dettingen is first mentioned in 1125 as Totingen in a protective bull of Pope Honorius II . In these documents for the Anhausen an der Brenz monastery, St. Peter appears as the church saint of Dettingen.

In the years 1311/1312 Dettingen is mentioned in a confirmation by Bishop Siegfried von Augsburg. At that time the majority of the village still belonged to the Anhausen monastery. The place was even more tied to this monastery in 1320 when the goods and justice of the Lorch monastery were transferred to Anhausen. Anhausen exchanged the church treasure of the Dettinger parish church in 1327 from the Lorch monastery, partly bought it in 1339 from Ulrich Hürger von Hürgenstein and his son Konrad. In 1377 the parish village of Dettingen was granted market rights, which is why a traditional market is still held on the Monday of the church fair.

In the 15th century, Dettingen then appears as the seat of a country chapter . From 1688 to 1690 the place was the official seat. Some of the Counts of Helfenstein came to the House of Württemberg via Duke Friedrich von Teck in the 15th century. The well-known family of Rechbergers and the imperial city of Ulm also appear in Dettingen's annals. It was not until 1593 that Dettingen finally came to Württemberg.

In the 18th and 19th centuries the village had developed into a considerable Alb community, whose proximity to the A 7 recently favored the settlement of several businesses. So it is that in 2015 Dettingen had a population of just over 2000 people.

On April 1, 1972 Dettingen was incorporated into Gerstetten.

economy

A structural change also took place in Dettingen between the beginning of the 19th and 20th centuries. The former farming village, a large part of whose inhabitants used to do hand-weaving, is now a workers' community with efficient craft businesses.

Today agriculture has only a small percentage of the population. The central location to some industrial communities was decisive for this development. Most of the many Dettinger commuters work for companies such as Voith , Paul Hartmann Group , BSH or Osram . In 2018 the Honold Logistik Gruppe acquired a 9 hectare area and is active there with a focus on high-tech and retail logistics
