The Hunted is a Swiss crime film by Max Michel from 1961.

action

The manager Reichle is found shot in the forest of Hablikon. He had gone hunting with three other distinguished citizens of the community. Detective Sergeant Müller takes over the investigation. A nephew of a participant in the hunt, who was also on site at the time in question and had just been released from prison, initially makes himself suspicious. Since there is no clear motive, Müller concentrates on the honorable and unassailable hunting colleagues.

Your clean facade begins to crumble during his research. Village doctor Amsler, banker Meier and also architect Häuptl had a lot to hide. Reichle knew of her private and business misconduct. In addition, Müller learns from Alvine Dünki, the dead man's lover, that money from the community treasury was used for the four gentlemen's enjoyable hours. The murderer can be convicted during the reconstruction of the course of events.

background

With the film adaptation of Walter Blickensdorfer's The Hunted , Erwin C. Dietrich jumped on the crime film wave that was popular in Germany at the time, for which he previously founded a subsidiary in Munich. The form and content of the film corresponded to a kind of new version by Wachtmeister Studer , which was also expressed in the choice of Heinrich Gretler as the main actor.

The shooting lasted from November 1960 to January 1961. Nino Borghi set up the interior scenes in the Atelier Sunne in Adliswil as well as in the Casino Aussersihl and the Degenried restaurant in Zurich . The exterior shots were filmed in Rapperswil and Zurich. The actor Franz Matter was also an assistant director.

The premiere took place on April 11, 1961 in the Basel cinema in Palermo and on April 22, 1961 in the Zurich cinema Apollo . The German dubbed version was premiered in Munich on May 12, 1961, entitled Die Heuchler . The film didn't make up the cost. The work received good reviews in the left-wing press, which enabled it to be sold to the state television broadcasters in Czechoslovakia and the GDR .

Reviews

"The film differs from thematically similar crime films through its sensationless and discreet note, but it is not convincingly designed."
