Die Hinichen are a band from Vienna . The band's name is derived from the word hinich, which means “broken” in the Viennese dialect . Hinicha (plural Hiniche ) is also a dirty word used in Vienna.

While they want their consistently crude texts to be perceived as satirical and ironic , critics deny them any artistic or satirical claim and accuse them of openly glorifying violence and sexism .

history

After first appearances at private parties, the singer and his cousin looked for additional members and appeared in 1991 at the Pop-o-drom - a band competition for young musicians - in the songwriter division . In the jury rating they were in last place, in the audience rating in second place. (The winner was the duo Papermoon , which is now very well known in Austria .)

The band was criticized for the glorification of violence against women in the song We mix up in the women's shelter . In 2002 the Austrian Ministry of the Interior checked the rock band's homepage on suspicion of re-use . In December 2012, a concert by the group in the Vienna Gasometer was canceled after Klaus Werner-Lobo , cultural spokesman for the Vienna Green Party , criticized the group's songs as “inhuman and discriminatory”. City Councilor for Culture Andreas Mailath-Pokorny ( SPÖ ) distanced himself from the intervention, the IG authors described it as "censorship of the Metternich era ".

Texts

Her lyrics deal roughly with topics such as bowel movements , incontinence , flatulence , intimate odor , promiscuity , sometimes coprophilia and anal fixation . Numerous texts are explicitly hostile to women ( "The Fut my wife smells like the asshole of a sow"; "We mix up in the shelter, we whip the emancipated from [...] The pussies - yes, the ghörn thrashed, first on August and then in d 'Goschen “). In some songs, melodies from well-known musicians are also used.

In other plays, police officers are targeted for ridicule or, as in Kerzlschlicker, sexual assaults on underage acolytes by priests.

The texts are written in Viennese dialect , including heavy expressions.

music

Musically, they make use of the most varied of directions, often within individual pieces. Rock and folk music are predominant , with occasional influences from gospel or reggae .
