action

Part 1

Gregor Nadolny is 30 years old and a tourism manager. He was in Italy with his ten year old daughter Anna and they are both on their way back. His daughter has a fever. Nevertheless, he doesn't want to go to Hamburg, where he lives and work, but to peacocks. There he spent a happy summer with his step-grandparents 20 years ago and wants to see his old love again.

Part 2

Gregor Nodolny meets acquaintances from childhood in Pfauen, whereby “ the encounters with the two childhood friends from back then ” are “ really important ”: for example his old love Ada and the boy Ila.

Georg, Ada and Ila did a lot of things together as children in Pfauen: So they danced together. Then they sat under a set table and drank a "Maß". When Ila carried a white flag in front of her in the field, Ada and Georg ran after him or prayed kneeling together in the church.

An affection developed between Georg and Ada. The two were a lot in nature. They helped with the field work, where both brought a basket with a meal for the field workers. Later they were surprised by the rain and looked for shelter "under a blanket" together. They went into a barn. One picture shows both of them lying in the straw, hugging each other while Gregor leans over Ada. The children "are confused by their feelings". In the end, both of them stand next to each other in a suit and white dress. Georg fell in love with Ada and wanted to marry her. Later, however, he married another woman, but compared his wife to his love for children, which he met again after twenty years.

criticism

Der Spiegel stated that "the television film by Peter Keglevic and Walter Kappacher [...] [rides] on the fashionable wave of early nostalgics."
