history

Season 0: The Orphanage

Season 0 started on February 1st, 2012. The two musicians, singer Marcus Testory (ex- Chamber ) and guitarist Matthias Ambré (ex- ASP ), who had already worked together in the past, founded Die Kammer on December 22nd, 2011. At the beginning of February In 2012, the duo season 0 and the video fairy tale Early Adoptions started . On April 15, 2012, Oliver Himmighoffen ( drums , ex-ASP) and Dirk Klinkhammer ( tuba ) joined the two musicians.

The chamber's first concert took place on May 27, 2012 as part of the Wave-Gotik-Treffen (WGT) in the Leipzig Völkerschlachtdenkmal . Only a few weeks later, on June 14, 2012, film composer Matthias Raue ( violin , viola ) was introduced as a further band member. The group was completed by Tabea Rotter ( cello ) and Aline Deinert (violin). The first single, The Orphanage , was released on June 18, 2012, just four days after Raue's entry, on Delicious Releases as a purely digital product. At the same time, the music video was published on Youtube. This was made by Ingo Römling in the style of a historical silhouette animation.

Season I: The Seeming and the Real

In mid-October, Season I: The Seeming and the Real was released, the debut album on Delicious Releases, which is distributed by New Music Distribution.

On August 31, 2013 the chamber played together with Versengold , Lyriel and Fiddler's Green as opening act for Schandmaul , who celebrated their 15th anniversary as part of a two-day open-air festival in Tanzbrunnen . The concert was sold out on both days with more than 10,000 visitors. At the beginning of 2014, the chamber toured across Germany on a few shows together with Schandmaul .

Beyond Seasons: Hither and Thither

In spring, on May 19, 2013, a new song was released with Hither and Thither . Beyond Seasons , outside of the creative phases divided into seasons , starts the video series Hither and Thither . Since then, the chamber has published a variation of the video and song in different line-ups in each subsequent season. The setting for the videos is an idyllic bench in front of a tree by a stream in the Kammergarten .

Season II: Views from the Inside

On January 21, 2014, Be Careful, the first single from the new album, called Season II: Views from the Inside , was released on February 14, 2014. On the weekend of Pentecost, Marcus Testory, Matthias Ambré, Aline Deinert and Matthias Raue made street music in downtown Leipzig . In spring, on May 25, 2015, the chamber performed at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen in the sold-out theater. On September 15, 2014, the Chamber published its video on Moritat Sinister Sister . Illustrator Ingo Römling implemented this using a hand-drawn laying trick. In November, the chamber completed its first own headlining tour under the motto Sinister Sister .

In spring 2015, cellist Tabea Rotter decided to leave her engagement indefinitely. The position at the cello was then occupied by Veronika Münstermann. On June 13, 2015, the band spontaneously performed a guerrilla performance at the Blackfield Festival in Gelsenkirchen, with a stripped-down line-up as Die Kammer minimized, on a side stage, as an unannounced break filler. On June 21, 2015, the chamber could be heard in an alternative line-up at the midnight special at the Feuertanz-Festival in a line-up only with strings. Furthermore, the two protagonists Ambré and Testory have been official endorsers of Framus since November 2015 and are supported by the company with acoustic guitars from the Legacy series.

Also in 2016 the band performed several times as Die Kammer minimized . In the same year Dirk Klinkhammer left the band because of a lack of time and then Veronika Münstermann because of a music scholarship in Spain. On the spring tour 2017 the band will be supported by guest musicians Benni Cellini (cello, last instance ) and Harold Nardelli (tuba).

Season III: Solace in Insanity

While working on the third album, Ingo Römling , who had previously designed all the artwork, joined the band as bassist in 2015. On January 28, 2016, the video for Love for Live , documentary-style with scenes from the band's work on the album, was released. Season III: Solace appeared in Insanity on February 5, 2016 . The release concert also took place on February 5, 2016 in the Moritzbastei in Leipzig. Support for the biggest live tour to date from February 5, 2016 to March 12, 2016 was Delva.

Music genre

Saskia Pompe compares the music from die Kammer with ASP's album Once in a lifetime , a joint project with Testory's former band Chamber. On Whiskey-soda.de it is said that the chambers are similar to Unheilig , but have a concept and work with real string instruments . Powermetal.de writes that twelve years cannot be thrown away overnight and that the music can be compared with ASP. The debut takes on clear traits of the melancholy mood that accompanied Ambré during his time at ASP. However, in the first few seconds the record developed into a “lively singer / songwriter mixture”, which also appeared to be “an antithesis to Johnny Cash's enduring genre sadness”. Author Thomas Sabottka called the album a "musical jewel".

Cast / Timeline

The chamber appears in different occupations. In addition to the full line-up, there is Die Kammer minimized , which consists of Matthias 'Matze' Ambré and Marcus 'Max' Testory. Further appearances, such as B. in street music or the video series Hither and Thither , take place in changing cast and with different strengths .
