action

After Evelyn Frank testified against her ex-husband, who was involved in criminal machinations, and his Russian partner, the BKA gave her a new identity and was henceforth Eva Bernhardt. The police duo Ines Meder and Holger Nolting accompanies them to their new place of residence Saalheim, a fictional place in the Bavarian mountains. While Holger Nolting does not like the former “ puff mother ” Evelyn Frank, who was also called “The Ice Queen” because of her cold-temperedness and unscrupulousness, the two women get closer. Ines actually wants to use the situation to find out whether Evelyn knows anything about the whereabouts of the 15 million euros missing from the crime syndicate , but "the ice queen" cleverly turns the tables and gets more and more control over Ines.

Although only Ines, Holger and their mutual boss Grossmann know the new whereabouts of the key witness , two strange men soon appear on the spot who seem to be after Evelyn. It soon turns out that one of them is called Tom Brandauer and is chief inspector at the LKA Berlin . Only the vacation and the witness protection program has nothing to do with it. The suspicion quickly arises that he might be an informant paid for by the criminal syndicate who is after the 15 million who have disappeared. Concerned Evelyn Frank asks the question: "If he knows where I am, who else knows all this?"

When Ines and Evelyn feel threatened by a man in the dark, the policewoman shoots him. As it turns out, the injured person is Tom Brandauer. When Grossmann learns of the incident, he is pissed off with Ines, whose colleague Holger explains to her that Brandauer led the investigation into the criminal syndicate and that he came incognito to protect Evelyn Frank, whom he was able to find using a tracking device hidden in her handbag . Brandauer's most important man was Rouven, an undercover agent who had been part of Mr. Frank's criminal network for over a year and was in hiding when the others were arrested. Brandauer believes that Rouven is now working for the Russians and that he wants to get the money that Evelyn Frank allegedly made disappear. When Ines sees the photo of Rouven, she realizes that this was the man she had seen in front of Evelyn's house a few minutes before when she was just leaving. Together with Holger, she rushes to Evelyn, who is lying in her apartment with a bleeding head wound and who knows how to report that the man has just threatened to kill her if she does not reveal where the missing money is. After Holger has left the apartment briefly, Ines decides to bring Evelyn to safety on her own because she suspects that either Holger or Grossmann is cooperating with the criminals.

But the story comes to a surprising end: the "leak" was Evelyn Frank herself, who planned everything meticulously. When she is alone with Ines, she pours a sleeping pill into her coffee and then flees with her great love Rouven and the 15 million. In order to go into hiding, she made use of the witness protection, because "nobody can cover up the trail as well as the state."

Trivia

The motorhome that Rouven drives in the last quarter of the film is an American-made Vixen , fewer than 600 units were made and very few are registered in Europe.
