The return of the wizards from Waverly Place (Original title: The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex ) is an American television film from the year 2013. It is based on the Disney television series The Wizards of Waverly Place and is a sequel to this. The premiere took place on March 15, 2013 on the American Disney Channel.

Alex Russo and her family and friends travel to Tuscany , Italy to visit Jerry's long-lost relatives. In Italy, Alex meets the charismatic magician Dominic, who develops feelings for her, but keeps a dark secret. Alex tries to prove to her family that she can be a true sorceress, but accidentally casts a spell that creates a doppelganger of her. Now there are two Alex: a good one and a bad one. But the evil Alex wants to conquer the world with the help of Dominic by keeping all mortals captive in pearls. The good Alex and her friends have to prevent this, but this is difficult because the bad Alex also keeps her family trapped in pearls. There is a spectacular showdown between the good and the bad Alex on the Leaning Tower of Pisa .

After the series Die Zauberer vom Waverly Place ended in early January 2012 with the series finale, the series leading actress Selena Gomez mentioned the possibility of a reunion film in September 2012 . All of the main actors known from the series should appear in this. But due to scheduling problems, David Henrie was not available for filming. For the special, Selena Gomez and Jennifer Stone recorded a song together. Filming lasted just under a month and took place in California . In addition to the six actors known from the series, Beau Mirchoff was cast for the role of the evil wizard Dominic .
