The ninth season of the German emergency and rescue series Die Rettungsflieger celebrated its premiere on March 16, 2005 on ZDF . The final was broadcast on April 20, 2005.
The first two episodes of the ninth season were broadcast for the first time one after the other on the Wednesday evening before on the 7:25 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. slots. As usual in previous seasons, the remaining five episodes were shown on the Wednesday 7:25 pm evening slot. Since the television series was discontinued in 2007, the episodes have been repeated regularly in the afternoon program on ZDF and in the afternoon and evening programs on ZDFneo .

| The rescue pilots are called to a mission in the river boat church in the port of Hamburg. Pastor Winter collapsed there, but since his partner is deaf and mute, it falls to the medical staff of SAR 71, Senior Medical Officer Dr. Sabine Petersen and Oberfeldwebel Johannes von Storkow, difficult to communicate with the woman. To the surprise of the whole team, pilot Captain Jens Blank, who speaks sign language , can help and enable the pastor to be treated optimally. The next mission leads the crew to a young man with vitreous bone disease who is involved in a car accident and must now be removed from the car with the greatest care. Paramedic Johannes von Storkow is meanwhile in love and enjoys his luck with Reni, Bernd's mother, a boy whom the sergeant-major met on a mission. But the couple's plans to move in together and start a future together come to an abrupt end when the crew of SAR 71 Bernd has to winch with a winch during an emergency light pole in the Millerntor Stadium and the paramedic realizes that his partner Reni lied to him. While she meets again with Bernd's father behind the back of her partner and neglects her son, this means a massive breach of trust for Johannes von Storkow. | The new commodore Colonel Ralph Brandt, an old friend of Captain Jens Blank, takes up his duties and starts immediately with an inspection of the helicopter, which has just returned from Hohn Air Base and is transporting a bicycle for Corporal Homann in Sergeant Johannes von Storkow. The following annoyance is inevitable and after a violent argument between the pilot and his boss even leads to the fact that he wants to take Jens Blank from the SAR 71. Meanwhile, Dr. Sabine Petersen freshly in love. When she was at the bank that morning, she met a man who a little later also chased a handbag robber and caught him. What the emergency doctor doesn't suspect: The stranger is the new commodore. In the meantime, the team has to take care of a lock keeper who was bullied by his colleague and who has now suffered a gastric rupture and fly to the clinic for the young Tine, who was seriously injured by an excavator. When in the evening at the urging of Colonel Doctor Dr. Kettwig should come to a clarification of the facts about the transported bicycle, also meets Dr. Sabine Petersen to Colonel Brandt and his overly correct adjutant Lieutenant Deffke. | Dr. Sabine Petersen repeatedly receives bouquets of flowers from a stranger, but the SAR 71 emergency doctor has an inkling: Her admirer is Colonel Ralph Brandt. Meanwhile, the rescue flight crew has to take care of the rollerblader Steffi and to the clinic, but shortly before departure the girl's dog jumps into the helicopter. When the commodore is again waiting for the rescuers in the rescue center, the next trouble threatens, but the new head of the flight crew is not at all angry. What nobody from the crew suspects is that the colonel has fallen in love with the emergency doctor. In the evening, Jens Blank, Jan Wollcke and Johannes von Storkow have a men's evening and Sabine Petersen reveals her new love to her best friend Madeleine Descartes. The next day the team is called to the pregnant violinist Sandra, who, at her mother's insistence, gives up her baby, which was conceived on a concert tour in Brazil, for adoption, but things turn out differently and the case should occupy the rescue pilots again, because Sandra and Pablo, the child's father, flee with the child and their lives are in danger.

Suddenly Madeleine Descartes rushes to the rescue helicopter and reports to her partner Jan Wollcke of a terrible car accident between his son and his mother, ex-wife Iris, who died from her injuries. While the entire team is stunned by this news, they also learn in the BWK that pensioner Weber has succumbed to the consequences of the accident. But a conversation from Dr. Sabine Petersen and the pensioner's wife are deeply moved by the emergency doctor.
