The seventh season of the German emergency and rescue series Die Rettungsflieger celebrated its premiere on February 12, 2003 on ZDF . The final was broadcast on May 7, 2003.

The twelve episodes of the seventh season were first broadcast on Wednesday evening before the 7:25 pm slot and have been repeated regularly in the afternoon program of ZDF and in the afternoon and evening programs of ZDFneo since the television series was discontinued in 2007 .

Pilot Alexander Karuhn has not yet managed to break the ice between himself and Jasmin, the daughter of his friend Astrid Shariatzadeh. When she finally has an accident in a park and the rescue pilot finds her and flies to the clinic with the SAR, she finally takes courage and starts to use "her Alex" on her terms. The rescue pilots are called to a dramatic mission: Little Klaus, whose single mother Amelie just got a birthday surprise for her son, fell out of the window of the apartment and is now seriously injured. Emergency doctor senior staff doctor Dr. Sabine Petersen tries everything to save the little boy, but when the team arrives at the clinic in the rescue helicopter, it is too late: Klaus is dead and his mother blames herself. Since the rescue pilots have to go to their next mission, Dr. Petersen the ward doctor to take care of the mother, but he too has a new patient and the mother is leaving the clinic. When the SAR 71 team noticed this, the emergency doctor did everything possible to save the mother from suicide . The mother's neighbor is informed and the rescue pilots manage to save Amelie at the last moment. Meanwhile, a solution seems to have been found for the question of the future of paramedic Thomas Asmus: Private Homann reports that there will be a promotion by Oberstarzt Dr. Kettwig takes place in the rescue center, but it turns out differently than expected. After Evi Reinders was relocated by helicopter, the fight for Madeleine Descartes between Jan Wollcke and Jens Blank begins again, but the latter acknowledges his defeat. While the pilot and his on-board technician are reconciled, they witness a violent argument between their emergency doctor and Karsten, which threatens to get out of hand. Blank and Wollcke rush into the ambulance room and put Karsten in his place.

While the rescue pilots have to react quickly to an explosion in a metal workshop and take care of several injured people, Corporal Homann rushes to pilot Captain Jens Blank, on-board technician Sergeant Jan Wollcke and paramedic Oberfeldwebel Paul Reinders and informs them about the intentions of the emergency doctor, Senior Staff Doctor Dr. Sabine Petersen to leave Hamburg to go to Africa. The three crew members are horrified and decide not to just let their colleague go. The team develops different strategies, but neither a "chance" encounter that Jan Wollcke arranges with her old student colleague Dr. Jonas Denner, Ulrike Descartes' attending physician, any other attempts work. The team is at a loss and asks Evi Reinders for help. While Dr. Sabine Petersen would like to retire after work on her 33rd birthday, she doesn't let her colleagues go so easily and she manages to convince her to a spontaneous birthday party. The emergency doctor makes a decision among her family and friends: She stays in Hamburg and with her rescue pilots.
