The second season of the German emergency and rescue series Die Rettungsflieger celebrated its premiere on January 20, 1999 on ZDF . The final was broadcast on March 10, 1999.

The eight episodes of the second season were first broadcast on the Wednesday evening before the 7:25 pm slot and have been repeated regularly in the afternoon programs of ZDF and afternoon and evening programs by ZDFneo since the television series was discontinued in 2007 .

The rescue team is called to a car accident on a country road: There a girl ran in front of a car, but the rescue pilots only meet the driver, the girl has disappeared. When the team meets little Julia after a search flight, her things are smeared with blood, but she has no wounds and claims to have stabbed her father. The rescue pilots have to fly a baby with a heart valve defect to a special clinic, but a storm prevents pilot Alexander Karuhn from being responsible for the flight. Emergency doctor Dr. Maren Maibach is appalled that her pilot is putting the newborn's life at risk, but on-board technician Max Westphal finds a way to bypass the weather front. The next mission will also be dramatic: Emergency doctor Dr. Maibach and paramedic Thomas Asmus get stuck in the elevator with an asthma patient and have to be rescued by their teammates. The rescue pilot's crew is called to the port of Hamburg: A worker was stung by a scorpion.
