Alex McGregor serves as an agent for the United States Secret Service . She thwarted an attack on US President Jonathan Hayes during a party . Alex is rewarded for taking charge of the team that protects President's daughter Jess.
Jess goes on a rafting tour. Terrorists kidnap the girl. Alex fights the terrorists, whom she defeated in the end.

TV Today described the plot as "clear" in a negative sense. The magazine wrote that the film was still a "tele hit" in the US.
TV Movie described the film as "predictable and unoriginal".
The lexicon of international films wrote that the film had no “special ambitions” and that it “played the genre standard”. The film was accused of errors in the dramaturgy.
Remarks
After the first film, the sequel "First Target - Attack on the President" was shot in 2000 with Daryl Hannah in the role of the bodyguard. In 2002 " First Shot - Das Assentat " followed, this time again with Mariel Hemingway in the lead role.
