Dieter Bänsch

Dieter Bänsch (born June 24, 1925 in Niederhermsdorf ; † December 11, 1995 in Marburg ) was a German German studies scholar, literary historian and essayist.

Live and act

The teacher's son attended elementary school in Niederhermsdorf and Tscheschkowitz (Eichenhag) in the Guhrau district . In 1935 he went to the Reform Realgymnasium in Guhrau and in 1938 switched to the Bergland -Oberschule in Waldenburg . Dieter Bänsch took lessons in music theory and composition at the Waldenburg Municipal Conservatory . After graduating from high school in March 1943, he was a soldier from August 1943 and then a prisoner of war in the Soviet Union until October 1949 . After returning home, Dieter Bänsch worked as an earthworker and cable layer until March 1950.

In the winter semester of 1951 he studied at the TH Braunschweig and then until 1957 at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau German , history , philosophy and musicology . In 1951 he received a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation .

In May 1965 Dieter Bänsch went to the Institute for Modern German Literature at the University of Marburg ; initially as an assistant assistant and a year later as an assistant. In December 1969, Dieter Bänsch doctorate in Marburg with a thesis on Else Lasker-Schüler for Dr. phil. For the summer semester 1960 he was given a teaching position in Marburg and in autumn 1972 he became professor for modern German literature at the University of Marburg. In his department he was dean in 1976 and vice dean in 1977 .

Although he retired in 1991, he stepped in again as a professor in the winter semester of 1992 because of the need.

His war diary - the Bobruisk report (see works ) - with experiences as a soldier on the Eastern Front was published in 1996 by Janusz Borysiak in Wroclaw .
