Dieter Barth

Dieter Barth (* 1943 in Passau ) is a German graphic artist and painter .

Life

Dieter Barth was born in 1943 in the Ilzstadt district of Passau . As a child he emigrated to California with his parents , but soon returned to Passau and, at his father's request, began training at a car dealership . In the following years Barth got to know the Passau painter Otto Sammer , who recommended him an artistic training at the art college in Linz . In 1964 he followed up on this suggestion and began studying painting, graphics, literature and art history there, which he completed in 1969 with a diploma from Herbert Dimmel .

In the same year he began a second degree in painting and graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich , until he received another diploma from Hermann Kaspar in 1972 .

In 1972 and 1973 Barth worked as an art teacher at the Bundesgymnasium Vöcklabruck, as well as as a freelance artist . Today he works exclusively as a freelancer in his own studio in Berchtesgaden , where he lives with his wife, whom he met on a study trip to Croatia.

Exhibitions of his works included a. in Linz , Vienna , Salzburg , Anif, Munich , Oldenburg , Frankfurt am Main , Bad Reichenhall , Berchtesgaden and Eichstätt . From December 7, 2019 to January 6, 2020, an exhibition in the Passau culture model was on view.
