Dieter "Didi" Schweiger (born November 26, 1958 in Munich ), also known as Obststandl-Didi, Bananen-Didi and Sechzger-Didi, is a fruit and vegetable dealer, television presenter , author and a Munich original .

Life

Dieter Schweiger was born in Munich. His father came from Landshut , his mother from Munich.

Schweiger worked in the field from 1974 to 1984 as an illegal worker investigator for the employment office. When he saw his job at risk due to rationalization, he decided to start his own business as the operator of a fruit stand in Ludwigstrasse at the Universität subway station , near Ludwig Maximilians University , directly across from his brother Georg's stand . His first day of work there was February 16, 1984.

Media presence

Dieter Schweiger gained regional fame through his fifteen years as a so-called " weather frog " for RTL Munich live . Since then he has enjoyed the reputation of a Munich original . Shortly after the merger of RTL München live with München TV , he left the station and has been moderating for an internet station ever since. He also had individual roles in smaller television and film productions. In 2010 he published his book Münchner Obststandl Gschicht'n with Starks-Sture Verlag , from which he also read aloud in Café Tambosi .

In 2014, Schweiger was the winner of the German Web Video Award in the "WIN" category (Economy and Business) with the image film - parody S'Lebn is a Freid! The mother of all image films . The spokesperson for the film is Christian Schult , the son of Rolf Schult . The film was produced by the Munich agency al Dente Entertainment on behalf of the camera manufacturer Sigma . With the film, director Peter Schels wanted to show that firstly the size of a company does not matter, secondly the content of most corporate films is completely interchangeable and thirdly, the only thing that counts is the credibility of the people.

In spring 2014 he received a contract from the e-learning platform Tutoria for a two-part online language course in Bavarian dialect on the topic of Oktoberfest .

Trivia

Schweiger is a well-known supporter of TSV 1860 Munich under the nickname "Sechzger-Didi" . In 2009 he recruited new members of the association with a free bag full of fruit. He donates ten percent of the sale of his book to the association, which corresponds to an amount of 1.86 euros (“1.860”) per book.
