Dieter Stadler

Dieter Stadler (born April 30, 1952 in Perg ) is an Austrian historian and political scientist .

Since 1988 he has headed the Casa de los tres mundos cultural and development project in Granada , Nicaragua , founded by Dietmar Schönherr and Ernesto Cardenal , and in 2003 he was awarded the Eduard Ploier Prize for his commitment .

Life and education

Stadler was born in Perg and grew up there. He attended the Music High School in Linz , then studied from 1972 to 1978 history and political science at the University of Vienna , and from 1984 to 1985, the postgraduate studies in History at El Colegio de México , in the district of Tlalpan in Mexico City , Mexico .

Professional activities

  • 1978/1979 responsible for the logistic coordination of archaeological excavations of the Foundation for Latin-American Research in Yaxha , Petén , Guatemala .
  • 1979 to 1982 coordinator of the culture and student exchange program International Student Exchange at the University of Illinois , Urbana , Illinois , USA .
  • 1982 to 1984 head of the food aid program for Poland of Caritas of the Archdiocese of Vienna .
  • 1985 to 1988 secretary to the President of Caritas Austria .
  • In 1988 he followed the call of the Austrian actor and talk master Dietmar Schönherr for his involvement in development policy in Nicaragua, as Executive Director of the International Cultural Center of the Casa de los tres mundos foundation .
  • In 1998 he initiated the resettlement of the local population to a protected location in view of the flood disaster caused by Hurricane Mitch in the vicinity of Granada, Nicaragua. In the following years he coordinated the construction of a total of 136 single-family houses including the necessary village infrastructure for the new village of Malacatoya. The integrated village development project Malacatoya in the Comunidad Los Angeles was supported by numerous aid organizations.
