Dietrich Wetzel (born October 27, 1936 in Berlin ; † September 2, 2006 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German politician ( Greens ). A graduate engineer and sociologist by profession , he was a member of the German Bundestag from 1987 to 1990 .

Life

Wetzel graduated from high school in Nuremberg and worked as a miner underground in coal and ore mining. He then studied mining at the Clausthal-Zellerfeld Technical University and at the Technical University of Berlin . At the same time, Dietrich Wetzel completed a degree in sociology and philosophy at the Free University of Berlin . He died on September 2, 2006 in Frankfurt am Main . His urn was buried in the Frankfurt main cemetery.

Student movement

Wetzel's political work began as AStA chairman in Clausthal and later as chairman of the Association of German Student Associations (VDS) in Bonn . At first he was a member of the SPD and the Socialist German Student Union (SDS), but was expelled from the SPD, was chairman of the Berlin SDS and a member of the SDS federal executive committee.

In 1967 he went to Frankfurt to learn from Theodor Adorno and Max Horkheimer . He was involved in the nationwide anti-authoritarian movement, especially in the campaigns against the Vietnam War and in initiatives for a reform of the specialized idiot teaching at universities . After his work as a member of the Bundestag (1987–1990), Dietrich Wetzel worked again as a freelance technical translator and expert and did research for the United Nations .

Member of the Bundestag for the Greens

Wetzel joined the Greens in 1982. His political work focused on nuclear and energy policy. He was the author of the brochure published by the Hessian State Association of the Greens in 1984: “The stuff you build bombs with. - The expansion plans for the nuclear industry in Hanau. "

From 1987 to 1990 Wetzel was a member of the Bundestag for the Green Party. He held the post of Chairman of the Committee of Education and Science and was a member of the Committee for Research and Technology. His political priorities at the time were:
