Dilovası is a district of the Turkish province of Kocaeli and at the same time a district of the Büyükşehir belediyesi (large city commune) Kocaeli. The place is about 35 kilometers west of the provincial capital İzmit .
The district is located in the west of the province, on the northern bank of the Marmara Sea . It is bordered to the west and north of Gebze , on the east by Körfez and on the south by the Bay of İzmit. The European route 80 runs through the place , which leads from Edirne to Ağrı and the Iranian border. In the center of the district, north of the district town, there is a large industrial area. Yılport industrial port is located on the shores of the Marmara Sea .
The Anatolian Railway from Istanbul - Haydarpaşa to Ankara runs through Dilovası . The bridge over the Bay of Izmit , a road bridge that will replace the car ferries that cross the Sea of Marmara at this point and reduce travel times, is under construction.
