Dinualdo D. Gutierrez

Dinualdo D. Gutierrez (born February 20, 1939 in Romblon ; † February 10, 2019 in General Santos ) was a Filipino clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Marbel .

Life

Dinualdo D. Gutierrez studied philosophy and theology at St. Vincent Ferrer Seminary in Jaro, Iloilo City , and was ordained a priest on April 7, 1962 . Further studies took him to the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome (doctorate in theology; 1971) and to the University of San Agustin in Iloilo City (doctorate in management; 1980). He was Professor and Vice-Rector at the Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion (CPC) in Roxas City and at St. Joseph Regional Seminary in Jaro, Iloilo City. He was vicar general in Capiz and Marbel.

Pope John Paul II appointed him coadjutor prelate of Marbel on November 19, 1980 . He was ordained episcopate on January 28 of the following year by the Archbishop of Capiz , Antonio José Frondosa ; Co- consecrators were Fernando R. Capalla , Prelate of Iligan , and Reginald Edward Vincent Arliss CP , Prelate of Marbel. With the retirement of Reginald Edward Vincent Arliss' CP, he succeeded him on October 1, 1981 as Prelate of Marbel. With the elevation to the diocese on November 15, 1982 he was appointed Bishop of Marbel.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on April 28, 2018. For many years he was Vice President of the Philippine Bishops' Conference .

He died on February 10, 2019 in General Santos City.
