Dirk Busch (* 1951 in Brunsbüttelkoog , Dithmarschen district , Schleswig-Holstein ) is a German singer , composer , lyricist, producer, arranger and sociologist ; he was a university professor.

Life

Busch was already on stage at the age of 14. At first he was a clarinetist in a Dixieland band . He later performed as a singer, guitarist and saxophonist in various bands in the Cologne / Düsseldorf area . This earned him his studies in sociology , economics and psychology at the University of Cologne , which he completed at the age of 23. At the age of 25 he was already Dr. rer. pole. and three years later he was appointed professor of sociology at the University of Bremen . This was his main activity until the 1990s. He has published several books and research papers on the subject of the qualifications and labor market of university graduates and carried out various empirical studies on the entry point of academics into careers. Busch later took a leave of absence from the university due to the increasing double burden when his music career was sustainable.

He began his career as a songwriter and singer in the 1980s. He was u. a. under contract with the record companies Teldec , Warner and Polydor . His first success was the 1985 love song She Bites and Scratches . With Do you also love the rough wind , he took part in 1991 in the competition "Songs as beautiful as the north" organized by NDR and GEMA . It landed in second place and was subsequently the only title in the competition that was in the sales charts for 13 weeks. His texts are often self-deprecating (e.g. I don't pull my stomach in anymore ) and funny. On the other hand, he has written and published a large number of chansons and ballads (such as, for example, Come on, let's live or Just a Short Dream ), which repeatedly deal with the finitude and limitation of our human existence. Busch has published several hundred titles in six languages so far. The songs have appeared on more than 30 solo albums and countless singles. Current titles such as Enjoy your life, Bei dir, Nur mal im Himmel overlooked, were able to place themselves in the top 100 of the German airplay charts for many months from 2015 to 2017.

In addition to his own songs, he also writes and produces for a variety of German and international artists such as B. Marina Koller , Christopher Dean, Codera, David Scott, Decebal Badila or Milva and Mario Adorf . He wrote the German lyrics for the Hollywood cartoon Anastasia with his co-author M. Woodlake.

In 2016, Dirk Busch received the cultural award of the district of Diepholz endowed with 5000 euros.

He is married, has two grown children and lives in Kirchweyhe near Bremen .
