The Disney Fantasy (dt. Disney Fantasy ) is a Panamax - cruise ship of the American shipping company Disney Cruise Line . After the sister ship Disney Dream, she is the second ship that the shipping company had built at Meyer Werft in Papenburg ( Emsland ).

history

Construction and commissioning

On April 24, 2007, the Disney Cruise Line ordered the two post-Panmax cruise ships Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy from the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg. The keel laying took place on February 11, 2011. In December 2011, strangers opened the water pipes on the ship several times during the construction phase. 40 cabins were damaged in the process; the property damage amounted to around one million euros.

Only eleven months after the keel was laid, on January 8, 2012, the undocking from the largest covered construction dock in the world took place, which was accompanied by several fireworks. The end pipes of the chimneys and the masts were installed on the same day. Various tests were also carried out.

The Ems overpass began on the morning of January 20, 2012 and ended the following day with the arrival in Eemshaven in the Netherlands . The ship arrived in Bremerhaven on January 31, 2012 and was completely completed and equipped at the Columbuskaje. On February 9, 2012, the ship was handed over to the Disney Cruise Line shipping company in Bremerhaven. After finishing the rest of the work, Disney Fantasy left Bremerhaven on February 16, 2012 and reached the port of New York on February 28, 2012. The baptism by the American singer Mariah Carey took place on March 1, 2012. On March 31, 2012 it broke Ship on its maiden voyage .

particularities

The appearance of the ship is based on the passenger ships of the 1930s and has both Art Deco design elements and elements from the world of Disney. The hull is dark blue, the superstructure white with two red funnels. The stern of the ship is adorned by the Disney characters Dumbo and the mouse Timothy .

The inside cabins of Disney Fantasy all have a "virtual porthole" on which a high-resolution real-time view of the sea is displayed. In addition, Disney characters from the animated film Finding Nemo or Mickey Mouse are played.

One of the attractions on board is the “AquaDuck” water slide , which was also installed on the sister ship Disney Dream as the first water slide on a cruise ship. It is 233 meters long and has four decks.
