The Acopampa district is located in the Carhuaz province of the Ancash region in central western Peru . The district was established on December 5, 1941. It has an area of 14.17 km². At the 2017 census, 2472 people lived in the district. In 1993 the population was 2338, in 2007 it was 2488. The administrative seat is the homonymous town of Acopampa at an altitude of 2725 m with 965 inhabitants (as of 2017).
Geographical location
The Acopampa District is centrally located in the Carhuaz Province. It is located in the high valley of Callejón de Huaylas on the right bank of the north-flowing Río Santa 2.7 km east-southeast of the provincial capital Carhuaz . The Acopampa district borders in the northwest on the Carhuaz district and in the southeast on the Marcará district .
