The Tinco district is located in the Carhuaz Province in the Ancash region in western Peru . The district was established on September 30, 1941. It has an area of ​​15.8 km². The 2017 census counted 3608 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 2514, in 2007 it was 2939. The district administration is located in the 2588  m high village of Tinco with 1010 inhabitants (as of 2017). Tinco is 3.5 km west-northwest of the provincial capital Carhuaz .

Geographical location

The Tinco district is located on the right bank of the Río Santa in the central north of the Carhuaz province.

The Tinco district borders on the Ataquero district in the west, the Mancos district ( Yungay province ) in the northwest, the Amashca district in the northeast and the Carhuaz district in the east and south .
