The Pariahuanca district is located in the Carhuaz province of the Ancash region in central western Peru . The district was founded on October 6, 1905. It has an area of ​​11.74 km². At the 2017 census, there were 1,381 residents in the district. In 1993 the population was 1392, in 2007 1501. The administrative center is the same-named village Pariahuanca at 2811  m with 624 inhabitants (as of 2017).

Geographical location

The Pariahuanca District is located in the central south of the Carhuaz Province. It is located in the high valley of Callejón de Huaylas on the eastern bank of the north-flowing Río Santa, about 12 km southeast of the provincial capital Carhuaz . The Pariahuanca district borders on the Marcará district in the north, the San Miguel de Aco district in the east, the Tarica district ( Huaraz province ) in the south and the Yungar and Anta districts in the west on the opposite bank of the Río Santa .
