The Chaupimarca district is located in the province of Pasco of Pasco region in central Peru . The district was established on November 27, 1944. It has an area of ​​15.5 km². At the 2017 census, there were 25,627 residents in the district. In 1993 the population was 27,502, in 2007 27,873. In the north of the district is the provincial and regional capital Cerro de Pasco, at an altitude of 4338  m . There is a large mine in the district in which various ores are mined in open-cast mining.

Geographical location

The Chaupimarca district is centrally located in the province of Pasco. It is located in the Andean highlands on the western edge of the Peruvian Central Cordillera .

The Chaupimarca district is bordered to the west by the district Simon Bolivar , to the east by the district Yanacancha and the south by the district Tinyahuarco .
