The district of Tinyahuarco is located in the province of Pasco in the Pasco region in central Peru . The district was founded on September 12, 1917 and has an area of ​​96.1 km². The 2017 census counted 7,027 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 5035, in 2007 it was 5962. The district administration is located in the 4275  m high village of Tinyahuarco with 658 inhabitants (as of 2017). Tinyahuarco is located about 10 km south-southwest of the provincial and regional capital Cerro de Pasco . At Tinyahuarco there is a large mine where ores are mined in open-cast mining.

Geographical location

The district of Tinyahuarco is located on the western edge of the Peruvian Central Cordillera in the center of the province of Pasco. The Río San Juan, a right tributary of the Río Mantaro , flows south along the western district boundary.

The district of Tinyahuarco borders in the west on the district Simón Bolívar , in the north on the district Chaupimarca , in the northeast on the district Yanacancha , in the east on the district Ninacaca and in the south on the district Vicco .
