The Condebamba District is located in the Cajabamba Province in the Cajamarca Region in northwestern Peru . The district was founded on February 11, 1855. It has an area of 204.6 km². The 2017 census counted 13,406 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 12,762, in 2007 13,186. The district administration is based in Cauday, at an altitude of 2829 m , with 685 inhabitants (as of 2017). Cauday is 6 km north of the provincial capital Cajabamba .
Geographical location
The Condebamba district is located in the Andean highlands east of the Peruvian Western Cordillera in the central north of the Cajabamba province. It has an approximately circular shape with a diameter of about 17 km. The Río Condebamba forms the western district boundary, the Río Crisnegas the northern district boundary .
The Condebamba district is bordered to the west by the district Cachachi , on the north by the district Eduardo Villanueva ( department of San Marcos ), to the east by the district Sitacocha and the south by the Cajabamba .
