The Llaylla district is located in the Satipo Province in the Junín administrative region in central Peru . The district was established on March 26, 1965. It has an area of 308 km². The 2017 census counted 6936 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 3168, in 2007 it was 5143. The administrative seat is the 1100 m high village of Llaylla with 927 inhabitants (as of 2017). Llaylla is located on the Río Mazamari , 15 km south of the provincial capital Satipo .
Geographical location
The Llaylla District is located in the central southwest of the Satipo Province. It has a longitudinal extension in SW-NE direction of 38 km and a maximum width of 12 km. In the extreme southwest, the district extends to the Peruvian Central Cordillera . The Río Mazamari (also Río Llaylla) crosses the district in a northeastern direction.
The Llaylla district is bordered to the west by the district Pampa Hermosa , on the north by the district Coviriali , in the northeast on the district Mazamari , in the southeast of the district Pangoa and in the extreme southwest of the district Andamarca ( Concepción Province )
