The Los Morochucos district is located in the Cangallo Province in the Ayacucho region in south-central Peru . The district was established on April 12, 1957. It has an area of ​​250 km². The 2017 census counted 8146 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 6909, in 2007 it was 7998. The district administration is located in the small town of Pampa Cangallo, 3330  m above sea level, with a population of 2239 (as of 2017). Pampa Cangallo is located 10 km west-northwest of the provincial capital Cangallo .

Geographical location

The Los Morochucos district is located in the Andean highlands in the northeast of the Cangallo province. The south and east of the district is drained to the Río Pampas , the northwest to the Río Cachi .

The Los Morochucos district borders in the southwest on the María Parado de Bellido and Chuschi districts , in the northwest on the Vinchos district ( Huamanga province ), in the northeast on the Chiara district (also in the Huamanga province) and in the southeast on the Cangallo district .
