The Pariñas district is located in the Talara province of the Piura region in the extreme northwest of Peru . The district was established on October 31, 1932. It has an area of 1116.99 km². In the 2017 census, 98,309 inhabitants were counted. In 1993 the population was 82,455, in 2007 88,108. The administrative seat of the district is the coastal provincial capital Talara with 91,444 inhabitants (as of 2017). There are also the larger towns of Enace (3575 inhabitants) and Sacobsa (1651 inhabitants) and Negreiros (1142 inhabitants).
Geographical location
The Pariñas district is located on the Pacific coast and extends over the south-central part of the Talara province. It extends over a semi-desert landscape. The district has an approximately 12 km long coastline and extends over 40 km inland. In the far east rises a ridge over 1100 m high. The national road 1N ( Panamericana ) crosses the district. In the north, the Pariñas district borders on the Lobitos and El Alto districts , in the east on the Marcavelica district ( Sullana province ) and in the south on the La Brea district .
