The Paucarcolla district is located in the Puno Province in the Puno region in southern Peru . The district emerged in the founding years of the Republic of Peru. It has an area of ​​174 km². The 2017 census counted 4,431 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 4382, in 2007 4864. The seat of the district administration is the 3847  m high village of Paucarcolla with 637 inhabitants (as of 2017). Paucarcolla is located 11 km north-northwest of the regional and provincial capital Puno .

Geographical location

The district of Paucarcolla is located on the west bank of Lake Titicaca in the north of the province of Puno. In the west the district extends to the lake Umayo . The national road 3S from Puno to Juliaca runs through the district.

The district of Paucarcolla borders in the south on the district Puno , in the southwest on the district Tiquillaca , in the northeast on the district Atuncolla and in the northwest on the district Huata .
