The Samegua district is located in the province of Mariscal Nieto of Moquegua region in southwestern Peru . The district was founded on November 8, 1894. It has an area of 62.55 km². At the 2017 census, there were 8,480 residents in the district. Geographical location
The Samegua district is located in the coastal highlands immediately northeast of the city of Moquegua. The Río Tumilaca, a tributary of the Río Moquegua , flows through the district in a south-westerly direction. Irrigated agriculture is practiced along the course of the river. The Samegua district borders the Torata district in the north and the Moquegua district in the south .
