The Tate District is located in the Ica Province in the Ica Region in southwestern Peru . The district was established on July 24, 1964. It has an area of ​​6.33 km². The 2017 census counted 4834 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 3133, in 2007 it was 4101. The district administration is located in the 392  m high small town of Tate de la Capilla with 2625 inhabitants (as of 2017). Tate de la Capilla is located 10 km south-southeast of the city center of the regional and provincial capital of Ica .

Geographical location

The district of Tate is centrally located in the province of Ica. The district lies in the plain east of the south-flowing Río Ica . Irrigated agriculture is practiced in the desert region.

The Tate district borders on the Santiago district to the south and west, the Pueblo Nuevo district to the north and the Pachacutec district to the east .
