The district of Parcona is located in the province of Ica in the region of Ica in southwest Peru . The district founded on March 17, 1962 has an area of ​​17.39 km². At the 2017 census, 54,047 people lived in the district. In 1993 the population was 40,283, in 2007 it was 50,349. The district administration is located in the 440  m high town of Parcona with 31,140 inhabitants (as of 2017). Parcona is a northeastern suburb of the regional and provincial capital Ica and is 3.5 km from the city center. Parcona and the neighboring La Tinguiña to the north form a settlement area.

Geographical location

The district of Parcona is located in the central northeast of the province of Ica. The lengthwise extension in east-west direction is about 5.5 km. In the west, the Río Ica flows south along the district boundary. An extension of the Peruvian Western Cordillera rises on the eastern district border . The area is urban to a greater extent. In the south there are artificially irrigated agricultural areas.

The Parcona district borders on the Ica district to the west, the La Tinguiña district to the north and the Los Aquijes district to the southeast and south .
