The district of La Tinguiña is located in the province of Ica in the region of Ica in southwestern Peru . The district founded on December 28, 1961 has an area of ​​81.6 km². The 2017 census counted 41,583 residents. In 1993 the population was 22,180, in 2007 30,902. The district administration is located in the 432  m high town of La Tinguiña with 37,899 inhabitants (as of 2017). La Tinguiña is just 4 km northeast of the city center of the regional and provincial capital Ica , to whose agglomeration the city belongs.

Geographical location

The district of La Tinguiña is located in the central north of the province of Ica. It stretches across the desert-like plain at the foot of the foothills of the Peruvian Western Cordillera .

The district of La Tinguiña borders in the west on the district San Juan Bautista , in the north on the district San José de los Molinos , in the east on the district Yauca del Rosario , in the south on the districts Los Aquijes and Parcona and in the extreme southwest on the district Ica .
