The Trompeteros District is located in the Loreto Province in the Loreto Region in northeastern Peru . It was founded on June 18, 1987. The district has an area of ​​12,571 km². The 2017 census counted 9821 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 3807, in 2007 it was 7450. The administrative center is the small town of Villa Trompeteros with 2555 inhabitants, 125  m high on the banks of the Río Corrientes (as of 2017). Villa Trompeteros is 180 km northwest of the provincial capital Nauta .

Geographical location

The Trompeteros District is located in the Peruvian Amazon in the northwest of the Loreto Province. The district extends over the middle and lower catchment area of the Río Corrientes 30 km above its confluence with the Río Tigre and extends in the north to the Ecuadorian border.

The Trompeteros district borders on the Andoas district ( Datem del Marañón province ) in the west, Ecuador in the north, the Tigre district in the northeast and east and the Urarinas district in the south .
