The Vice District is located in the Sechura Province of the Piura Region in northwestern Peru . The district was founded on June 15, 1920. It has an area of ​​324.62 km². At the 2017 census, there were 15,630 residents in the district. In 1993 the population was 10,145, in 2007 12,719. The administrative center is the 15  m high small town of Vice with 5972 inhabitants (as of 2017). Vice is located west of the south-running Río Sechura , 16 km north-northeast of the provincial capital Sechura . The road connection from Sechura to the regional capital Piura runs through the district and passes the capital Vice. At the mouth of the Río Sechura is the Manglares de San Pedro de Vice ecoregion.

Geographical location

The Vice District is located on the Pacific coast in the northwest of the Province of Sechura. In the south is the mouth of the Río Sechura. The district has an approximately 22 km long coastline on the Pacific Ocean. Irrigated agriculture is practiced near the Río Sechura in the east of the district. Otherwise the landscape is characterized by the coastal desert of northwest Peru.

The district of Vice borders in the northwest on the district Paita , in the north on the district La Unión , in the east on the districts Bellavista de la Unión and Rinconada Llícuar and in the southeast on the district Sechura .
