The Cristo Nos Valga district is located in the Province of Sechura in the Piura region in northwestern Peru . The district was established on February 19, 1965. It has an area of ​​262 km². At the 2017 census, there were 4,497 residents in the district. In 1993 the population was 2540, in 2007 it was 3377. The administrative center is the m high town of San Cristo with 1929 inhabitants (as of 2017). San Cristo is located 12 km northeast of the provincial capital of Sechura .

Geographical location

The Cristo Nos Valga district is located in the northwest of the Sechura Province, on the left eastern bank of the Río Sechura . It has a longitudinal extension in east-west direction of almost 26 km and a maximum width of 13.5 km. Irrigated agriculture is practiced in the northwest of the district. Otherwise there is desert vegetation. In the district are the salt lakes Laguna Napique and Laguna Ramón. The lower reaches of the Río Piura runs through the Laguna Ramón . The extreme east is crossed by the national road 1N ( Panamericana ) in a north-south direction.

The Cristo Nos Valga district is bordered to the north by the district Rinconada Llícuar , in the northwest on the district Bernal , in the northeast on the district El Tallán ( province of Piura ), to the east by the district Catacaos (also in the province of Piura) and in the south on the district of Sechura .
