The Wanchaq district is located in the Cusco Province of Cusco region in South Central Peru . The district was established on June 10, 1955. It has an area of 6.38 km². In the 2017 census, 58,541 people lived in the district. In 1993 the population was 51,584, in 2007 59,134. District and city of Wanchaq are congruent. Wanchaq is located in the metropolitan area of the provincial and regional capital Cusco, east of the city center of Cusco. Cusco Airport is located in the district .
Geographical location
The Wanchaq district is located at an altitude of 3363 m in the Cusco Valley east of Cusco. The Wanchaq district borders on the Cusco district in the north, the San Sebastián district in the east and the Santiago district in the southwest .
