The Saylla District is located in the Cusco Province in the Cusco Region in south-central Peru . The district was established on January 14, 1942. It has an area of 24.1 km². The 2017 census counted 5938 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 956, in 2007 it was 2934. The 3110 m high town of Saylla with 2257 inhabitants (as of 2017) is the administrative seat of the district. Saylla is located on the Río Huatanay 16 km east-southeast of the regional and provincial capital Cusco .
Geographical location
The district of Saylla is located in the far east of the province of Cusco. The relatively rural area is traversed by the Río Huatanay, a left tributary of the Río Urubamba , in an easterly direction.
The district of Saylla borders in the west on the district of San Jerónimo , in the extreme north on the district of San Salvador ( province of Calca ) and in the east on the district of Oropesa ( province of Quispicanchi ).
