The province of Calca is one of thirteen provinces of the Cusco region in south-central Peru . It has an area of 4414.49 km². At the 2017 census, 63,155 people lived in the province. In 1993 the population was 56,007, in 2007 it was 65,407. The provincial administration is located in Calca .
Geographical location
The province of Calca is located in the Andes , about 25 km north of the regional capital Cusco . It has a longitudinal extent in NNW-SSE direction of about 117 km and a maximum width of about 48 km. The area is crossed by the mountain ranges of the Peruvian Eastern Cordillera . The Cordillera Urubamba with its highest point, the 5818 m high Sahuasiray , runs centrally through the province. The upper reaches of the Río Urubamba and its tributaries Río Yanatile and Río Paucartambo (Río Yavero) flow through the province in a north-northwest direction.
The province of Calca borders in the northeast with the province of Manu ( region Madre de Dios ), in the east with the province Paucartambo , in the south with the province Cusco , in the southwest with the province Urubamba and in the west and northwest with the province La Convención .

The province of Calca is divided into eight districts. The district of Calca is the seat of the provincial administration.
