Does It Offend You, Yeah? is a British electro rock - band from Reading .

history

Dan Coop and James Rushent met through their DJ work together in Reading. For a mixtape that Coop put together for a girl he was in love with, they wrote their first song together, Battle Royale , in 2005 , which they then uploaded to Myspace . The song spread quickly and gained a large number of listeners, and garnered Coop and Rushent some inquiries from music labels . They decided to form a band and to tour. They signed with EMI and recorded their first album You Have No Idea What You're Getting Yourself Into in 2007 , which was released in 2008. As a guest singer, Sebastien Grainger from Death from Above 1979 appeared, who took over the vocals for Let's Make Out .

In 2008, Does It Offend You, Yeah? in the ranking of the most performed artists on last.fm in ninth place.

On August 25, 2010, the song We Are the Dead was offered for free download from the official website . On January 23, 2011, The Monkeys Are Coming, the first single from the second studio album, Don't Say We Didn't Warn You , was released on March 14, 2011.

Does It Offend You, Yeah? very often do remixes for other artists such as Muse , Bloc Party or Linkin Park .

On April 25, 2012, they announced on their website an indefinite break from their musical activities together.

Band name

The band name comes from the British sitcom The Office . When Dan Coop and James Rushent wanted to upload their first song Battle Royale to MySpace, they had to enter a band name there. They decided to turn on the television and use the first sentence that was spoken there as the band name. The first sentence was from Ricky Gervais and read in full: “Does it offend you, yeah? My drinking? "

In 2007 they received the Guardian Unlimited Award for the “Worst Band Name”.
