Dokka is located between European route 6 (E6) ( Oslo - Tromsø - Kirkenes ) and E16 (Oslo - Bergen ) and therefore has good transport links. The streets Fv33, Fv150, Fv162, Fv193 and Rv245 run through the village. They offer a connection to Lillehammer , Gjøvik and Hamar in the east, to Hønefoss and Oslo in the south and to Fagernes in the west. In 1902 the Landsbanen railway line between Eina and Dokka was opened. By 1906 the line was extended to Fagernes and the line was named Valdresbanen . In 1989, the Storting decided to stop operations and the line was closed. Today it is still used as a museum train and can be driven on with a draisine.

Dokka's industry is diverse. Companies in the wood and furniture industry as well as textile and clothing industry have settled here. In addition to the concrete, iron and metal industry, there is also a production of prefabricated houses. There is also a power and waterworks and the local sewage treatment plant.

Dokka is the education center of the municipality of Nordre Land. In addition to several kindergartens, there is a primary school, a secondary school ( Dokka ungdomsskole ) and the secondary school ( Videregående skole ). The Nordre Land kulturskole shares the building with the Dokka ungdomsskole . There is also a library in the village.
