Dominic Carmon

Dominic Carmon SVD (born December 13, 1930 in Opelousas , Louisiana - † November 11, 2018 ) was an American religious and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in New Orleans .

Life

Dominic Carmon joined the religious order of Steyler Missionaries and was ordained a priest on January 28, 1962 .

Pope John Paul II named him Auxiliary Bishop in New Orleans and Titular Bishop of Rusicade on December 16, 1992 . The Archbishop of New Orleans, Francis Schulte , donated him episcopal ordination on February 11 of the next year ; Co- consecrators were Wilton Daniel Gregory , auxiliary bishop in Chicago , and Harry J. Flynn , bishop of Lafayette . On December 13, 2006, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related resignation.

Dominic Carmon was involved in numerous social projects and the Christians in the Holy Land . In 1993 he was appointed Grand Officer of the Papal Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Giuseppe Cardinal Caprio and invested in the USA Southeastern Lieutenancy on September 18, 1993 in New Orleans by Grand Prior Francis Schulte .
