Dominic Joseph Chwane Khumalo OMI (born January 5, 1918 in Maphumulo , † April 27, 2006 in Durban ) was a South African Roman Catholic religious and auxiliary bishop in Durban .

Life

Dominic Joseph Chwane Khumalo attended the minor seminary in Roma from 1934 . In 1940 Khumalo joined the Order of the Oblates of the Immaculate Virgin Mary and completed the novitiate in Inchanga , where he made his first profession on February 17, 1941 . Dominic Joseph Chwane Khumalo then studied philosophy and Catholic theology at the University of Roma . He received on 3 July 1946 the Bishop of Durban, Henri Delalle OMI, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

After his ordination, Dominic Joseph Chwane Khumalo worked as a teacher in Inchanga and as a pastor in various parishes . In 1962 he became pastor in Inanda . From 1964 to 1970 Khumalo was a missionary in Zululand before he became a pastor in Pietermaritzburg . In May 1974 Dominic Joseph Chwane Khumalo became Episcopal Vicar for the Vulindlela region .

On February 27, 1978 Pope Paul VI appointed him . as titular bishop of Buxentum and auxiliary bishop in Durban. The Archbishop of Durban, Denis Eugene Hurley OMI, donated him episcopal ordination on May 4th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the auxiliary bishop in Mariannhill , Pius Bonaventura Dlamini FFJ , and the bishop of Eshowe , Mansuet Dela Biyase .

On March 2, 1999, Pope John Paul II accepted Dominic Joseph Chwane Khumalo's resignation due to reasons of age.
