Dominic Manucy

Dominic Manucy (born December 20, 1823 in St. Augustine , Florida , USA , † December 4, 1885 in Mobile , Alabama ) was Vicar Apostolic of Brownsville .

Life

Dominic Manucy studied Philosophy and Catholic Theology at Spring Hill College in Mobile. He received on August 15, 1850 by the Bishop of Mobile , Michael Porter , the sacrament of Holy Orders . Manucy then worked as a pastor in Montgomery and Mobile.

On September 18, 1874 Pope Pius IX appointed him . the titular bishop of Dulma and ordered him Vicar Apostolic of Brownsville. The Archbishop of New Orleans , Napoleon Joseph Perché , donated him episcopal ordination on December 8 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Natchez , William Henry Elder , and the Bishop of Galveston , Claude Marie Dubuis .

On January 18, 1884 Pope Leo XIII appointed him . to the Bishop of Mobile . The inauguration took place on March 30, 1884. But on September 27 of the same year, Dominic Manucy resigned as Bishop of Mobile. Manucy was reappointed Vicar Apostolic of Brownsville and was assigned the titular diocese of Maronea .

His grave is in the crypt of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Mobile.
