Donte Whitner Demetrius (* 24. July 1985 in Cleveland , Ohio ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the Strong Safeties . He played for the Buffalo Bills , the San Francisco 49ers , the Cleveland Browns and the Washington Redskins in the National Football League (NFL).

Early years

Whitner went to high school in his native Cleveland. He later went to Ohio State University .

NFL

Buffalo Bills

Whitner was selected as the eighth player in the 2006 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills in the first round. In his first game for the Bills, he caught his first interception against Tom Brady . In 2009 he scored his first touchdown after carrying an interception 76 yards back into the opposing end zone against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers .

San Francisco 49ers

Whitner signed on August 4, 2010 a three-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers , with whom he won the 2012 National Football Conference . However, they failed in Super Bowl XLVII against the Baltimore Ravens with 34:31.

Cleveland Browns

On March 11, 2014, Whitner signed a four-year contract with the Cleveland Browns . However, two years later, on April 2, 2016, he was released.

Washington Redskins

On October 5, 2016, Whitner signed a contract with the Washington Redskins . On December 28, 2016, he was placed on the Injury List.
