Building description

West tower

The structure was essentially built from field stones , which were given a light textured plaster at a later date. Statements about the layering or stratification cannot therefore be made without further investigations. The choir is straight and has not moved in. On the east side are two beehive-shaped windows with smooth, beveled reveals . In the gable , which is also plastered, there are three narrow lancet windows , of which the middle one extends into the gable. It is designed as a cover in the lower area . The other two windows are clogged and plastered.

The nave has a rectangular floor plan. On the southern wall of the ship there are two windows in the western area and one in the eastern area, also in the shape of a beehive. In between is the two-storey patronage box . It can be entered from the south, west and east through one door each. On the east wall is a small window on the first floor; on the south wall on the upper floor. The south gable is boarded up, on top - as on the nave - a simple gable roof . There are only three large windows on the north side of the ship.

The west tower is made from an attachment on the ship. It consists of half-timbering that is plastered over the entire surface. The corners are provided with a square plaster . On the west and east side there are two rectangular sound arcades in the upper area ; in between a tower clock. There is only one opening on the other two sides. This is followed by the eight-fold kinked tower helmet , which ends with the tower ball and weather vane .

Furnishing

The pulpit , Fünte and the horseshoe gallery date from the end of the 19th century. The church also features an oil painting by Abraham Bloemaert . It shows the Adoration of the Shepherds and is dated to 1640. In the Patronatsloge is an epitaph from sandstone , which at Hans Friedrich von Thümen remembers who died 1661st A special feature is the organ prospect integrated into the gallery . The instrument is not playable in 2019. There is therefore another, much smaller organ in the chancel .

The inside of the building has a partially open roof construction with a pointed arch on the east wall. The bell was cast in 1592.

To the southwest of the church is a boulder with a plaque. It has the inscription: "In memory / of the victims / of war and / tyranny - / the living / as a warning".
