The Evangelical-Lutheran village church Großgeschwenda in Großgeschwenda , a district of Probstzella in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia , is a listed building . The parish Großgeschwenda belongs to the parish Probstzella in Kirchenkreis Rudolstadt-Saalfeld the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

history

In 1530 the chapel was named as a branch church of Probstzella. The building had to be repaired as early as 1566. The chapel was expanded and enlarged between 1729 and 1731. The building, which is strongly based on the Gothic , can now be described as a church . In 1805 the choir tower was raised so that the church could be seen from afar. In 1886 and between 1985 and 1987 the church was renovated .

description

The church was built using parts of the Romanesque church building repaired in 1556. The broad nave has a slate mansard roof . The compact choir tower with a late Romanesque substructure has a rectangular baroque tower , also slate-roofed , which is covered with a curved dome on which a lantern is enthroned. In the interior , the triumphal arch is added to the slightly drawn-in choir , thereby separating a room for the sacristy . The hall has two-story galleries and is spanned with a flat ceiling. The pulpit altar, built around 1734, stands in front of the passage to the former choir .

The organ with 14 registers , divided into two manuals and a pedal , was built in 1907 by Adam Eifert .
